FORMER world champion, 110sport’s Peter Ebdon is well placed after the latest day of Championship League Snooker action.
The world No.14 leads the way after the opening day of Group Five thanks to a hat-trick of wins against Ricky Walden, Mark Williams and Neil Robertson and gives him a real chance of reaching Thursday’s semi-finals.
Six players - Jamie Cope, Robertson, Barry Hawkins, Williams, Walden and Dave Harold - are still vying for the other semi-final spots.
Harold suffered defeats against Robertson, Cope and Barry Hawkins – who scored the highest break of the day, a 142 during that win - but a victory over Ebdon in his last match kept his tournament hopes alive.
The winner of Group Five will join Stephen Maguire, John Higgins, Judd Trump, Marco Fu and two further qualifiers in the Winners’ Group. Championship League Snooker is broadcast entirely on a number of betting websites throughout the world.
